The mysterious Nokia D1C appears on Geekbench

New Nokia smartphones will emerge soon. The question is what will be the positioning of the brand operated by Global HMD and Foxconn. A first clue perhaps appears in Geekbench.

Nokia will soon return in telephony. Officially, this return is even scheduled for the fourth quarter 2016, which has just begun. The range of phones, operated by Global HMD (structure developed by former Nokia and Microsoft Mobile) and Foxconn, will include feature phones and smartphones. However, it is still unclear what the brand positioning. Economic ? Premium? Photo specialist or particularly enduring?

C1? P1? Or D1C?

After several rumors about potential candidates for Nokia back on the shelves, including the C1 and P1, here is a third reference appeared late last week on Geekbench: Nokia D1C. The smartphone has been tested several times on September 30 on the test tool. A procedure that has naturally left some traces and some technical details. As always with Geekbench, the information disclosed are few, but enough to get an idea.

The most important detail: the identity of the chipset. This would be the Snapdragon 430 Qualcomm chipset that an economic rather logically replace the Snapdragon 415 since it includes all the technical features, while improving bandwidth RAM (from 667 MHz to 800 MHz), the modem (from X5 to X6) and the GPU (Adreno 505 and not more Adreno 405). The Snapdragon 430 takes eight Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.4 GHz Snapdragon 415 and retains the LPDDR3 memory modules.

Snapdragon 430 and 3GB of RAM

Moreover, the RAM side Nokia D1C tested on Geekbench incorporates 3GB, which instead would position between the entry-level and mid-range, like the other models in the Snapdragon 430. The chipset is compatible ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1 and LTE category 4. finally, note that, according to Geekbench, the Nokia D1C runs on Android 7.0 Nougat. Excellent news because the phones under Nougat are still quite rare in this season.
As shown here, the Nokia D1C would be a perfect competitor redmi 3s Prime Xiaomi, Lenovo K6 rating, LG Stylus Over 2 or 3 of the Zenfone Laser models that also feature the Snapdragon 430 and 3 GB of main memory on average. The Prime redmi 3s sold 120 euros in India, while the K6 Note is sold 170 euros. This D1C should if effectively marketed, positioned below the 200 euros or around 150 euros. The response, perhaps, in the current quarter.
